„Zīļuks” is a family.
Theatre „Zīļuks” is the largest and the most active pupils theatre in Riga, regulary playing high quality performances.
Since 1985. „Zīļuks” is headed by director Laura Paegle.
„Zīļuks”usualy has 5 to 6 performances in their repertory, them mostly beeing fairy tales, latvian and foreign drama classics and motion performances, puppet shows, Christmass plays. During one season pupils participate in 75 to 100 performances in Latvia and foreign countries.
Our collective hold around 150 to 180 pupils in ages from 5 to 18 years.
In classes pupils learn various skills like elocution, acting, singing, face make-up and physical training. These are the first steps of beeing an actor
„Zīļuks” is always open for inovations. „Zīļuks” was one of the first theatres to add street theatre performances as edducation of interests.
A special part abaout this theatre is Christmas time. It’s one of the most exsciting part of the year because of „Zīļuks” wonderful and magical plays. Each year about 4500 people come to watch these plays.
